The Board of Directors of NEOM announced Xaynor, a private members' club nestled amidst the rugged landscapes along the pristine coastline of the Gulf of Aqaba earlier in February. Here’s everything we know so far from the architects and NEOM themselves on its future developments and timeline.
We assume this one is pronounced “Zaynor”, like Xavier in Spanish, but the architects didn’t get back to us on its pronunciation.
Designed by the renowned Mexican studio Sordo Madaleno Arquitectos, Xaynor is envisioned as the ultimate beachside retreat, seamlessly blending luxury and natural beauty.
The club's design draws inspiration from the region's geological formations, with large rock-like structures enclosing the various amenities, creating a harmonious fusion of architecture and landscape.
Javier Sordo Madaleno de Haro, partner at Sordo Madaleno Arquitectos, elaborated on the concept, stating, "Xaynor is a luxury beach club that's completely blended in with the natural environment. It's as though tectonic plates collided to create this magnificent structure that emerges in the Gulf of Aqaba," according to Construction Weekly.
At the heart of Xaynor lies a pristine beach along the Gulf of Aqaba, complemented by a series of pools, restaurants, and a world-class spa.
Sordo Madaleno de Haro said the studio's commitment to integrating the development with its surroundings, saying, "Nature is the first architect, and that's really what Xaynor celebrates.
There's a mathematical language embedded in nature that we translate into our architectural environment. Xaynor doesn't just match the landscape; it is the landscape."
Xaynor joins a growing list of luxury resorts and developments announced by NEOM along the Gulf of Aqaba, including a trio of hotels designed by OMA, an "upside-down skyscraper" named Aquellum, and various other luxury hotels and coastal towns, such as Leyja, Siranna, Epicon Towers, Utamo, and Norlana.
