Raffles Sets Its Sights on Saudi's $500 Billion NEOM with New Alpine Resort
Skiing in Saudi?! Well yes.
Saudi Arabia's $500 billion futuristic megacity NEOM is shaping up to be a dazzling tourism destination. The latest major announcement has legendary luxury hotel brand Raffles unveiling plans for an ultra-premium alpine resort in NEOM's Trojena mountain district.
Dubbed Raffles Trojena, the striking 105-room resort is slated to open in 2027, nestled in Trojena's stunning 2,600m high mountain ranges just 50km inland from the Gulf of Aqaba coast. Featuring a showpiece man-made lake as its centerpiece, this development marks Raffles' grandest mountain resort foray yet.
"Raffles Resort will be a landmark for luxury within the global mountain tourism destination at NEOM," declared Philippe Gullet, Executive Director of Trojena. He touted the diverse natural environment ideal for alpine adventures like skiing, hiking and star-gazing.
Raffles
On the hospitality side, Raffles Hotels & Resorts CEO Amir Akar promised "the best in modern luxury" befitting the iconic brand's pedigree. "Trojena will be an ideal destination and enhance Raffles' legacy in the world's most attractive locales," he stated.
The resort falls within Trojena's "Discovery District" - one of six distinct zones carved into the nearly 60 square kilometer mountain tourism hub. Chris Newman, NEOM's Hotels Executive Director, hailed Raffles as "adding value" by enabling visitors to experience ultimate alpine luxury and wellness.
Renderings depict a breathtaking contemporary design blending seamlessly into the rugged peaks, valleys and that dazzling artificial lake. Guests can look forward to Raffles' signature pampering and world-class skiing literally at their doorstep.
Vision
It's all part of Saudi Arabia's bold vision to transform its northwestern desert regions into a future-focused economic powerhouse anchored by NEOM. The $500 billion mega-city will contain multiple integrated tourism destinations like Trojena.
With heavyweight luxury brands like Raffles on board, NEOM's mountain resort plans are shaping up to be as massive as its towering peaks. The high-altitude decadence has been unlocked, projecting Saudi Arabia into the highest echelons of global alpine luxury tourism.
