NEOM earlier revealed plans for Elanan, an 80-key luxury wellness retreat that aims to seamlessly blend architecture with the surrounding natural landscape. Located along the Gulf of Aqaba coastline, the low-density development is sited at the intersection of mountains and sea.
Design & Amenities
Design & Amenities The design vision centers around integrating the built environment into the existing oasis setting complete with natural springs. Key features include:
80 guest rooms/suites oriented towards views and natural light
Extensive outdoor plazas, gardens and relaxation spaces
Private dining facilities
Observation tower to take in panoramic vistas
Focus on biophilic design principles and sustainable technologies
While renderings depict an ultra-modern, sculptural aesthetic, the developers emphasize blending the contemporary architecture harmoniously within the lush surroundings. Structural forms appear inspired by natural elements.
Wellness Concept As the name implies, wellness is the core focus at Elanan. Planners envision an immersive nature retreat that "embraces all the senses" by removing urban distractions.
Mindfulness as a selling point
Specifics are vague, but amenities will presumably include a spa, fitness, mindfulness offerings and customized programming aligned with the latest wellness travel trends. The natural setting of mountains, oasis and coastline itself is portrayed as a key aspect of the rejuvenating experience.
Gulf of Aqaba Development Elanan is the latest piece of NEOM's ambitious tourism development along the Gulf of Aqaba. Other recently announced projects in the region include Leyja, Epicon, Siranna, Utamo and several others, each targeting a different niche.
Timelines and Budgets
The overarching vision is creating a sustainable new riviera focused on luxury experiential travel. Low-density resorts seamlessly integrated with the dramatic natural landscapes appear to be a common thread.
NEOM continues pushing an aggressive buildout timeline, though concrete details and delivery timelines remain limited. Elanan's ultra-luxury, intimate scale could make it an easier initial win towards the broader vision.
Across the NEOM area there are several projects currently ongoing, why not read our previous blogs.
